2003 ISCD MAPLE LEAF OPEN

April 10 – 14, 2003

INVITATION

It is with pleasure that the Alberta Handgun Association invites your federation to participate in the 2003 ISCD Maple Leaf Open with competitions in all ISCD Air rifle and Air pistol events.  Shooters may establish MQS  in all air events for participation at the 2004 Paralympics.

ORGANIZING

The 2003 Maple Leaf Openwill be hosted and sponsored by The Alberta Handgun Association, and The Shooting Federation of Canada, the ISSF national federation in Canada .  Send or fax completed entry forms, hotel reservations and travel information to:

A detailed schedule of events is included with this program.

A final schedule of competitions and training, with any necessary changes, will be provided to all teams at the Technical Meeting. 

Elimination and qualification round relays will be conducted if necessary.       

VENUE

The range is  located in the ballroom of the Hotel

ENTRIES

National federations may enter three (3) shooters in each competition event and two (2) additional shooters in each event to shoot for Minimum Qualifying  Score only .  Please use the Maple Leaf Open Entry Forms included with this program to make entries.

Note that preliminary entry information is required by February 17, 2003 . 

Final entry, hotel reservations, hotel rooming lists, and arrival information forms are required by March 3, 2003 .

ISCD ID NUMBERS

Delegations must insure that all shooters have an ISCD ID number listed with the ISCD in order to participate.

TRANSPORTATION

We recommend all participants arrive and depart from Edmonton International Airport .  The Organizing Committee will endeavour to provide transportation from the Airport to the Hotel. Delegations who make arrangements to provide their own transportation to Columbus by rental vehicle will pay for their own vehicles. 

 

All fees for entries must be paid on April 11. 

Payments must be made in $Canadian funds in the form of cash, travelers or bank checks, or money orders.

 CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Event Entry Fees: $250 per competition and MQS entries

(includes hotel to range transportation and doping fee)  

OFFICIAL HOTELS

Accommodations have been reserved at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel 10155 – 105 St., Edmonton, AB T5J 1E2 (Tel: (780) 423-4811 and Fax: (780) 423-3204 for $100 plus taxes per room night for single (one person) or double (two persons maximum).  All Hotel reservations must be made through the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel  50% of the total hotel fee must be paid in advance no later than March 10, 2003 . Rooms will not be reserved without a deposit. Please use the “Hotel Reservation” form included with this program to make reservations.  Room cancellations after April 9 will be charged one night’s room rate of $100.  .  Please include country name and indicate the payment is for the Maple Leaf Open.

RoomingList

FINAL PAYMENTS

Team leaders must confirm entries and hotel reservations upon arrival.  Final payments for entries, are due within 24 hours of arrival and will be paid directly to the Alberta Handgun Association at the range.   Payment must be made in CAN$ in the form of cash or traveler’s checks. Credit cards will not be accepted.  Delegations and individuals are responsible for paying their own hotel rooms, meals, telephone and miscellaneous charges directly to the hotel when checking out.  A cash deposit or credit card is required for a room telephone.

MEAL SERVICE

Restaurant service is available in the hotel.  Snack and lunch service will be available at the hotel.  There will be a banquet at the hotel after the competitions competed on April  14. 

ARMS STORAGE

There will be no gun or ammunition storage at the range.  Guns must be stored in the hotel rooms.  Equipment bags may be stored at the near the range.

JURY MEMBERS

Qualified officials with an ISSF judge’s licenses will be selected by the ISSF Judges Committee to serve on juries.

WEATHER

Weather in Edmonton in April is normally warm, but it could be raining or snowing and windy.

AWARDS

ISCD gold, silver and bronze Maple Leaf Open medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place shooters in each event.  All award ceremonies will be conducted at the Banquet on April 14, except for those who must leave early.

AMMUNITION

Some Air pellets will be available for purchase at the range.

VISAS/PASSPORTS

Those countries who need help in obtaining Canadian visas should contact Alberta Handgun Association as early as possible with the list of names of their delegation and fax numbers of the Canadian  Embassy or Consulate in their country.

FIREARMS PERMITS

Each athlete must have an approved firearms permit from the Canadian Customs in order to clear Canadian customs and bring firearms and ammunition into Canada .  This is mandatory. Athletes need to fill in the form and have $ 50.00 Canadian to pay for entry.  Please fill in a form for each athlete and bring it with them.  Mailing address and fax number will be on the form.   DO NOT SEND OR FAX THIS FORM TO the Alberta Handgun Association.
